YOUR CHOICE MATTERS

OHOY SWIM is a sustainable and slow fashion brand.

We are inspired by the beauty of the ocean and the need to protect it.

In our commitment to slow fashion, we prioritize quality, durability, and ethical production.

We are dedicated to creating timeless pieces that are not only stylish but also eco-friendly. The brand uses recycled and regenerated fabrics sourced from pre and post industrial consumer waste such as carpet flooring and industrial plastic rescued from all over the world ( a small percentage of that being fishing nets). By doing so, we aim to reduce waste and prevent the further destruction of marine life and plastics ending up in landfields. We believe in the importance of taking action (not just talking about it) to make a positive impact on the environment, and their approach to slow fashion is a testament to that.

We prioritize both our employees and the planet, always seeking opportunities for growth and improvement. Through our conscious manufacturing and distribution choices, as well as our commitment to employee well-being and charitable giving, we strive to create a positive impact in the world around us.

By choosing OHOY SWIM, you can shop for swimwear that is both fashionable and sustainable.

You'll enjoy wearing pieces that are made with care and premium materials that will last you for years to come. Choose a brand that aligns with your values and helps you look good, feel good, and do good. Shop Ohoy Swim today and join the movement towards a better and more conscientious world.

OHOY SWIM was born with a mission: To provide an alternative choice of sustainable, contemporary swimwear and surf wear that actively protects our oceans, land, and air, rather than contributing to their further destruction. We are proud supporters of Health Seas, an organization that collaborates with dedicated volunteer divers to retrieve and rescue abandoned fishing nets from the oceans depths. 8 million tons of waste end up in our seas every single year.

  • 640 thousand tons of fishing nets are abandoned at the bottom of the ocean each year.
  • Each year millions of marine animals are injured and killed by ghost nets.
  • Unless the situation changes, by 2050 our seas may contain more garbage than fish (data sourced from FAO and UNEP).

To address this problem further we use ECONYL® yarn - a polyamide yarn with the same performance and quality as virgin nylon without having been produced with the use of non-renewable fossil raw materials.

Important to state clearly that ECONYL® use only a very small percentage of fishing nets in their regenerated yarn.

ECONYL® yarn is a 100% regenerated nylon yarn derived from pre and post consumer waste such as; carpet flooring and industrial plastic rescued from all over the world and fishing nets. By recovering and regenerating existing plastics, we actively contribute to reducing waste in landfills and our oceans. That is precisely why we have committed to producing our products with ECONYL® yarn.

A bit more on Healthy seas: We donate 1% of sales to Healthy Seas, that might not seem like a lot, but we believe that if this becomes the new standard for all brands, 1 percentage can do a lot. Healthy seas was founded in 2013, has collected 905 tonnes of discarded fishing nets and other marine litter for fabric production.

Healthy Seas also works on prevention through collaboration with fishers, fish farms, local
communities and other stakeholders to prevent waste nets from ending up in the sea.

In 2021 Healthy Seas has collected 188,500kgs of fishing nets and other marine litter.

In 2021 Healthy Seas worked with 1,250 fishers and fish farmers and 350 volunteer divers across 108 clean up days to achieve this.

Oeko-Tex®️

We have a few suits in our range that are not fully ECONYL®️ (the lining is) but the outer layer is sourced in Italy and are Oeko-Tex®️ which means:

More transparency for more sustainable future. Oeko-Tex®️ Standard 100 fabrics have been certified free from hazardous chemicals.

RESPONSIBLE SOURCING AND MANUFACTURING

In 2016 when we founded our brand, we traveled to Sri Lanka and decided to work with a small family owned factory. From the beginning all of our pieces have been made from Econyl fabric, sourced and flown in from Italy. With time we have made the decision to manufacture in Portugal. Keeping the production in Europe means we are able to reduce our footprint by not sending fabric to the other side of the world and it also provides us the transparency we seek throughout our supply chain

Although we have made the move from Sri Lanka to Europe we think it’s important to continue supporting small businesses in under developed nations. Large communities rely on this work. Therefore we are still producing our 'Bees Wax Sunshine Hats' with Mr Ajith in Sri Lanka and we will continue to support them as best as we can.

Each product has a hangtag made from recycled papers, attached with a recycled cotton string and wearing a non single-use plastic hygienic liner. They are packed in a small recycled organic cotton bag that can be used for lots of other things.
